Tour Details
Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and has three peaks; ‘KIBO’, ‘MAWENZI’, and ‘SHIRA’. Among them KIBO is at the altitude of 5,895m and it is covered with the neve. Kilimajaro started to be formed from about 1 million years ago and it completed to form as a mountain after the eruption at KIBO 360,000 years ago. The origin of the word ‘Kilimanjaro’ is not known exactly but it is believed to be a reasonable means ‘Shining Small Mountain’.

There are 6 official climing routes totally and those are called ‘Marangu’, ‘Rongai’, ‘Lemosho’, ‘Shira’, ‘Umbwe’, and ‘Machame’. Among them Machame route is the steeepest and has the most scenes to see then it can take 6 to 7 days to climb. Rongai course is the easiest but has least scenes to see. However the last climbing part is very steep. Marangu route is the most well known and easiest course. In additions you can stay at the Lodge or do camping through this route, so the most hikers use this course.
